What is GLP-1 therapy?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications that work by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, which is released naturally in the gut.
These medications affect appetite regulation and glucose metabolism. They are used in the management of weight-related health conditions when supervised by a licensed provider.
Compounded GLP-1 medications are prepared by state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved drugs.
The compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide medications available through kindr Health are compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy. These are not the same as FDA-approved medications such as branded GLP-1 products. Compounded medications are not evaluated for safety, efficacy, or quality by the FDA.
Eligibility for GLP-1 therapy requires provider evaluation and approval. Not all patients will qualify.
